How a New Pope is Chosen
Prayer for the Conclave
Heavenly Father,
You never leave Your Church untended.
In every age, You raise up shepherds
to guide and guard Your people.
As the Cardinals gather in Conclave
to choose a new Successor to Saint Peter,
pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them:
a spirit of wisdom and courage, discernment and peace.
Grant them hearts that seek only Your will.
Silence every voice but Yours.
May their deliberations be rooted in prayer, shaped by charity,
and inspired by the example of Christ, the Good Shepherd.
Raise up for Your Church
a pope who will lead us in truth and love,
who will be a father to the poor, a voice for the voiceless,
and a beacon of unity in a divided world.
Through the intercession
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Peter,
may this time of transition
be one of grace, renewal, and deepened faith.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
