“Have no fear, I am Strength itself. When the weight of the cross seems
more than you can bear, ask my Heart for help. Let yourself be guided. My
eyes are ever on you, fix yours on Me and abandon yourself." As spoken to Servant of God, Sister Josefa, RCSJ
We will follow the way of the Cross on Friday, March 15 th , as written and
prayed by St. Alphonsus Liguori. St Ligouri is the founder of the
Redemptorists. Their Mission is to preach the message of the merciful love
of God and the importance of prayer.
As we journey this evening, we are truly walking the road of mercy. We do
not hear any words of condemnation. We do see His obedience to the
orders given; we sense His deep sorrow when He meets His Moher; His
patience on hearing the words of scorn shouted along the way. We hear
His compassionate response to the women he meets; His words of love
and mercy to the good thief. Jesus has given us the greatest gift of mercy;
He has offered Himself on the Cross – so that we do not suffer the
consequences of our wrong doings.
“He was spurned and avoided by men, a man of suffering, knowing pain.
Like one from who you turn your face spurned, and we held him in no
esteem. Yet, it was our pain that he bore, our sufferings he endured.
“We thought him as stricken, struck down by God and afflicted, but he was
pierced for our sins crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that
makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed.´ Isaiah 53:2-5
