We are writing to inform you that an agreement in principle has been reached to settle 1353 childhood sexual abuse claims filed against the Archdiocese after the enactment of California Assembly Bill 218.
We invite you to read the Archbishop's Letter and the other materials related to the settlement (see links below).
As the Archbishop reports, as a result of numerous reforms, new cases of sexual misconduct are rare in the Archdiocese and no one who has been found to have harmed a minor is serving in ministry at this time. Furthermore, no designated donations to parishes or schools or to archdiocesan-wide collections and campaigns, such as Together in Mission and Called to Renew, will be used for the financing of this settlement.
As we move forward, we hold in prayer all those who have suffered, and we remain dedicated to ensuring that our parish and school remain safe environments for all. Thank you for your support and ongoing vigilance in fostering a community rooted in care and respect.
